Phoenix Atherectomy Catheter

The first intervention case on the west coast utilizing the new Phoenix Atherectomy System was performed on a patient with a completely occluded left superficial femoral artery at CCVI today. Fortunately, the device removed a large amount of organized thrombus, as well as atheroma that comprised the occlusion, without evidence for embolization.

The patient was a 66 year old female with diabetes for 35 years and recently diagnosed peripheral artery disease in 2014. She was referred to us for severe left leg and foot pain which has recently limited ambulation to less than 1/2 block.
